1) wIRA Oberflächenhyperthermie mit hydrosun®-TWH1500 im Journal of Clinical Oncology
In May 2020 Buchholz, Ali und Hunt (MD Anderson Cancer Centers San Diego and Houston) published a review on "Multidisciplinary Management of Locoregional Recurrent Breast Cancer" in the Journal of Clinical Oncology.

In a Correspondence published in September 2020, Thomsen, Vaupel, Grosu from University Medical Center Freiburg, and Notter from Lindenhofspital Bern presented thermograpy-controlled wIRA superficial hyperthermia combined with hypofractionated re-irradiation as an effective therapeutic option especially for large-sized lesions. They emphasized that combined hyperthermia/radiotherapy could not only be applied in patients without metastasis but - in a palliative approach - generally in all irresectable local recurrences of breast cancer in pre-irradiated areas.

In a simultaneously published reply, Buchholz et al. "commend Notter et al. for publishing their experience of treating 201 patients with locally recurrent breast cancer by using a modern hyperthermia technology that allowed for large-field hyperthermia combined with low-dose re-irradiation. They report excellent rates of tumor response, local control, and locally progressive free survival. We agree with Notter et al. that a confirmatory phase III comparative trial is not feasible, and therefore we find their recent publication to add to options for therapeutic consideration".
